  Part of the project «Local self-government and citizens» was implemented in the village Markovo (Town of Slatina). In the first part of the project, we worked on the education of the citizens and members of the local self-government councils about legal functioning of the local self-government and tools for citizens' participation. For practical implementation, citizens and authorities of Markovo selected tool «Planning public space». Creative workshop indoors and outdoors was conducted with the aim of sketching shape of future village main square, which didn't exist until now. After several propositions were made, citizens and authorities agreed on the final solution. Beside that, it was decided that they will also arrange and equip small village hall , which is complimentary with the square.Additionally, citizens and authorities ensured part of required funds from local firm for communnal works «Komrad» and from local self-government, while OGI ensured the rest of funding through the project. In the end, snall village square was built. Citizens contributed with their voluntary work. Similar activites were conducted also in the village Bakić, which is nearby.
Total worth of the works in Markovo was 16.000 $.
