The mission of C.E.G.A. is to work for sustainable democratic development through stimulating citizens? involvement in community decision making process and local self-governance.
C.E.G.A. invests in the assets of organisations and initiative groups providing for their participation in the transformation of their communities. It is an action-oriented organisation, working in three main areas:
Providing resources, technical support, access to information and assistance in fundraising to grassroots groups and organisations;
Disseminating working democratic practices and linking effective community-based initiatives;
Advocacy, coalition building and public campaigns for change in existing policies and attitudes based on lessons learnt at community level.<./li>
We believe that sustainability of democratic transition in Bulgaria depends on imbedding democratic values in day-to-day civic practices of societal behavior and organisation. As a catalyzer of creating effective grassroots alternatives C.E.G.A. adopted these principles and values ? participation, help for self-help, process orientation, openness and partnership at all levels, constant learning-through-doing, and education of the public at large.
