Short description of your project

The project's goal was modifying Law no. 24/2000 on the legislative technique and the Regulations of the two Romanian parliamentary chambers in order to include public consultation in the law making process. At the beginning of the project, the regulations mentioned above did not include any reference to the public consultation process in the two chambers of the Romanian Parliament, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

Role of NGO (what did your NGO do)

CeRe started the campaign by publishing the study "Public Participation in the Parliaments of European Countries" which was sent to members of the Parliament. Further on, it organized, in the Romanian Parliament, the roundtable “Is Public Consultation a Necessity?". The purpose of this roundtable was to gather deputies, senators, parliamentary and governmental experts, members of the Economic and Social Council and of NGOs and discuss together this topic.
